What if a demon told you this secret?

What if Tuesday is all about the what ifs. Each week I post a hypothetical question that you can ponder and answer. This week’s question is based on the following quote:

What, if some some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: ‘This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and an innumerable times more’… Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus? Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you have answered him:’You are god and never have I heard anything more divine.'”

By Friedrich Nietzsche

So, what if a demon told you that you would live the same life over and over again?

Would you “gnash your teeth” or rejoice?

Why?

Leave your answers in the comment section, and if this question inspired you to write a story, don’t forget to submit it to my Best Opening Line Contest. Get the chance to win $50 and publicity on my platform. Contest closes TONIGHT February 14th, 2017.

And no matter what, Stay Inspired…

About shondabrock

I'm a southern in my heart and a northern in my soul. I've had a few bad wines, but for the most part I've enjoyed enough good wines that it makes up for the few bad bottles. I enjoy writing, but more than writing itself, I love telling a good story, taking my reader off on an adventure starting with "What If"…. I'm a sucker for the Paranormal Romance genre. To me, its nice to be released from "What Is Expected" and believe for 250 pages in "What If's". Its like a vacation with out passports, waiting in line and an expensive credit card bill when you return home. Please Enjoy, but more importantly Stay Inspired…

I would definitely ‘gnash my teeth’. Don’t get me wrong, I love my current life. I have a supportive, loving family and have had some incredible experiences in my 24 years…but I wouldn’t want to keep reliving the same life over and over, regardless of how good it is. I’m a great believer in reincarnation and I believe our souls learn important lessons from the lives we have lived. If I simply kept reliving the same life, how would my soul mature and grow? How would I implement those lessons learnt? I wouldn’t be able to, so yes, definitely gnashing my teeth!

I don’t think I’d do either. I’d be somewhere in the middle. I’d work on changing my attitude and reactions and choices.
